"Every plant has a story . . . ."

R. uvarifolium

With permission of RSBG

We visited SW Tibet to see spectacular forests of these large tree-like rhodies.  Shortly after viewing them, we were arrested because our travel permits were issued in Lhasa instead of by the local Red army commander.

After our release, we continued on our way constantly overwhelmed by rhododendron beauty in this beleaguered country.

Flowers are white with a purple blotch at the base.  The undersides of the leaves produce a plastered white indumentum.  A row of these plants can make a nice screen.

Rhododendrons in the wild are under constant environmental threat – so YOU can be a part of preserving the gene pool of this magnificent plant.  AND, its regal bearing will stand out in your garden!

This rhododendron will like:  Filtered Sun or Shade - Small amounts of fertilizer on Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day - Gentle watering - Well aerated soil with good drainage
