"Every plant has a story . . . ."

R. lanigerum

We are pleased to offer this seldom-seen species that is noted for its large flowers ranging from rose to red.  Buds have an attractive, russet indumentum.

This plant's forebears live in SE Tibet and Northern India where they grow amidst conifer forests.  This plant's parents have been hardy here in the northwest.

Our garden collection includes lanigerium which have grown to ten feet in 25 years.

Lanigerum would like partial shade, small amounts of fertilizer on Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, gentle watering and well drained and aerated soil.

Those large round buds open with very large flower count!  The buds themselves make an interesting display.  (Photo by Hank Helm)

Because of the flower count, the trusses are large and very full.  (Photo by Hank Helm)
