"Every plant has a story . . . ."

R. fortunei

R. fortunei clone 'Lu Shaun' foliage (Photo by Hank Helm)

Fortunei is native to many parts of China and was grown here from seed in Western Washington.  It’s vigorous, upright, and a good do-er in our growing conditions.   The stem of the leaf (petiole) is purplish or reddish and flowers are pink.

This is a stately plant that out- performs many of the hybrids of which it is a parent.  Over time it can become a large mound or small tree.  Enjoy!

This rhododendron will like:  Partial Shade - Small amounts of fertilizer on Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day - Gentle Watering - Well aerated soil
