"Every plant has a story . . . ."

R. faucium

RSBG #90-025 (With permission of RSBG)

This plant was grown in Western Washington.  Its native habitat is SE Tibet.

Here’s a plant to grow for its bark.  A wonderful, peeling, smooth, reddish-brown trunk will remind you of our native Pacific Madrone.   Leaves are smooth and about 3 – 5 inches long.

The bright, pink flowers are just a bonus on this “a-peeling” rhodie.  It will grow to a large shrub or small tree in your woodland garden.

This rhododendron will like: more shade than sun -  Small amounts of fertilizer on Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day - Gentle Watering - Well aerated soil
