This species can become a tree with beautiful large leaves and heavy brown indumentum.  Upper surface of the leaves are rugose.  The forebears of this plant are found in E. Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan and W. Arunachal Pradesh from 9,000 to ll,000 ft.  It is found in mixed conifer forest.

Flowers are either this beautiful pale yellow, to pink to creamy white with blotch.

This is one of the absolute grandest of the species.  It has lived for over 100 years in cultivation.

This rhododendron will like partial Shade.  It would love a woodland canopy.   Provide
small amounts of fertilizer on Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, Gentle watering, Well-aerated soil with good drainage and avoid a very windy spot.
