This is a spreading and lower growing shrub.  Usually compact.  Lower surface of the leaf has a loose compacted silvery to fawn indumentum.  This is a late flowering species.

The flowers of this species are in various shades of orange, orange-red, yellow-flushed-red.  The truss is lax with a prominent calyx.

This rhododendron will like:  Partial sun - Fertilizer on Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day - Gentle Watering - Well aerated soil.

Trusses are loose in shades of orange.

A reddish orange in this form.
